Volunteers climbed the steep eastern slope of Stissing Mountain to continue work on a new trail connecting Thompson Pond with the Stissing Mountain fire tower.
A large contingent of DLC volunteers, along with representatives of The Nature Conservancy and Friends of Stissing Landmarks, spent a few hours gathering and breaking up stones, building up trailbed, and creating switchbacks as work continued on a new trail up the steep and rocky eastern slope of Stissing Mountain. When completed, the trail will connect glacial kettle Thompson Pond with the 1,400 foot gneiss ridgeline and the fire tower. We'll be returning in June and September for more days working on the trail. A big thank you to everyone who turned out to help out!
