As we took our first steps forward with our brand-new Volunteer, Community Science, and Education Program, the DLC partnered with the Town of Stanford’s Conservation Advisory Commission for our first volunteer event, a trail maintenance and park beautification day at the Whitlock Preserve. Volunteers came out to help on Saturday, April 30 to plant native seedlings, construct a new trail bridge, post new trail markers, and haul out garbage. By the time we were done, the Whitlock Preserve – already a beautiful place – looked better than ever. Many thanks to all of the intrepid volunteers for all of their hard work, Big Rock Community Farms Market for providing coffee, and Coyote Flaco in Stanfordville for providing lunch!
