A fun filled afternoon focused on the importance of our native pollinators.
Friends and fans of our local pollinators came out to Plan Bee Farm Brewery in Poughkeepsie to learn about the many creatures that germinate our plants and help our food to grow and thrive. Families gathered to make native seed bombs and construct bee hotels, aided by Chris Layman of Fox Farm Apiary. Plan Bee owner, Emily Watson, guided guests on a tour of the farm, detailing its history and showcasing the many plants used in the brewing process while Chris Layman educated everyone on the many bees native to our area and how they aid in the propagation of food crops and many of our most important native plants. DLC Ecologist, Julie Hart, was there as well to provide an overview of where pollinators fit in the overall ecology of Dutchess County. It was an exciting and engaging afternoon that was enjoyed by a large crowd of people from all corners of Dutchess.
