The DLC was awarded $3.75 million in state funding grants to protect local farmland.
On Monday, July 18, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that more than $38 million was being awarded through the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets' Farmland Protection Implementation Grants program to keep agricultural land in production and protect farms. The DLC was among the recipients and was awarded $3.75 million. These funds will be used to protect farms in the Towns of Clinton, Pine Plains, Wappinger, and Copake from development and keep them in production. The wide breadth of agricultural work on these farms includes soybean and corn production, vegetable farming, Christmas trees, and equestrian operations.
